The Sunshine Kids Foundation
A Legacy of Giving.
With the help of countless individuals, local businesses, and charitable organizations, we have supported the Sunshine Kids Foundation for more than 22 years. During that time, we raised more than $1.5 million for the kids. Our company and associates are committed to helping the Foundation make a difference in the lives of kids with cancer.
Over the Years.
Over the years, our fundraising efforts have included our Annual Sunshine Kids Golf Tournament, Annual Sunshine Kids Bowl-a-thon, Sunshine Kids Designer Handbag Bingo, and numerous smaller events. In addition, we participate in several hands-on activities directly with the Sunshine Kids in the Western Region including Recognition of Graduating Sunshine Kids, a beach party for Sunshine Kids and their families, a Back-to-School event in the fall and Holiday Party for the Kids and their families in December.
We partner with local hospital pediatric oncology departments across the country to provide approved donations of art supplies, games, holiday gift bags for Sunshine Kids that are hospitalized for extended periods of time.
History of the Foundation
The Sunshine Kids Foundation was founded by Rhoda Tomasco in 1982 while she was serving as a volunteer in the pediatric cancer unit of a hospital in Houston, Texas. After seeing the loneliness and depression among children during their extended hospital treatments, Rhoda had a vision to provide these young cancer patients with opportunities to participate in positive group activities which promoted self-esteem, personal accomplishment, and just plain old-fashioned fun!
Today, that vision has been realized many times over, as thousands of children from hospitals across the country have reaped the benefits of The Sunshine Kids Foundation’s many programs and national and regional events. Funded by personal contributions, corporations and foundations, the Sunshine Kids continues, as it has since its inception, to provide all activities completely free of charge to the children and their families.

We invite you to be a part of our efforts to make a positive impact on kids dealing with the effects that comes with a diagnosis of cancer. It can be devastating. The Sunshine Kids Foundation places their focus on the emotional and mental anxiety that the kids go through during cancer treatment. We give them an outlet that allows them to be around other kids experiencing the same issues and lets them just be kids and have fun.
